Shelford Deli is closing its deli shop in October, with the future focus on a cafe-bistro. The Deli shop will close on Sunday October 14th. The new bistro will open on October 17th.


A new community cafe is opening soon in Great Shelford.



A stolen bike was recovered after the thief was chased in Maris Green. 



"What is the point of these parking restrictions", says Lesley Smith.


A chain saw has been stolen after thieves smashed a garage window in Bridge Close between 4pm on September 18 and 6.30am on September 19.


Tools have been stolen from a building site in Tunwells Lane between 6pm on September 20 and 7.30am on September 21st.


A number of Trees at the Cemetery are being trimmed or felled as part of a tidy up in the area. Logs from the tree work will be freely available over the next 2 to 3 days, stored at the area adjacent to the Cemetery car park. Please take care when collecting any logs if tree work is ongoing.



Someone appears to have climbed on top of a gatepost in Station Road, Great Shelford and pushed off a mounted stone sphere causing it to damage brickwork on the ground below. This happened between 10.30 pm on Sept 1st and 11am on the 2nd.

Proposals for the 7a bus to no longer pick passengers up in Great Shelford from July 30 have been changed after being highlighted on Great Shelford Online.


Part of an exterior wall of the old Alzheimer building in Station Road collapsed sometime on Sunday 24th June exposing the inner breeze blocks.
Maybe it would be a good time for owners to pull down these converted 'old sheds' that hark back to the days of the old Shelford Corn and Coal Company, and replace them with a modern attractive office unit set back further thus allowing the very narrow footpath at this point to be widened.

The Your Hospice Lottery for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity may soon have helped raise £1 million for the Hospice.

A black and silver ‘Giant’ hybrid bicycle was stolen from a driveway in  Abberley Wood, Great Shelford between 10pm on 21st June and 7am on 22nd June

Four gardening metal planters were stolen from the front garden of a property in Coppice Avenue, Great Shelford and the flowers strewn around between 9am and 6pm  21st June.

At around 7am on June 20 a white van pulled on to a drive in Ashen Green, when a roll of electrical wire was stolen.


The Shelford Support group, which provides vital services for needy villagers, is in danger of closing.


An estate agency is offering to give £250 for every instruction in the village during the summer.

The Playscape proposals for a new playground at the Rec have been given planning permission.

A turquoise ladies Raleigh pedal cycle with a pannier has been taken outside Great Shelford train station between 9am and 3pm on June 11.

A Great Shelford woman has published a book about her 1,000 mile cycle ride from land's End to John O' Groats.

Great Shelford's newest road - “Fletcher’s Way” - is now open.

The Parish Council made the suggestion because Leopold (known as Tom) Fletcher’s business, Fletcher and Sons, occupied the site prior to Welch. 

He ran the business with his sons Leopold junior and Charlie, was well known in Shelford and lived to a great age. On the left is an old photo showing one of his trucks outside the Fletcher & Sons depot.
